Your safety is our top priority. Please read these guidelines carefully to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience on Afronighty.

Important Safety Warning

While we work hard to keep Afronighty safe, we cannot guarantee the identity or intentions of the people you meet. Always prioritize your safety when interacting with people you meet online. If something feels wrong, trust your instincts and remove yourself from the situation.

Chatting Safely Online

Protect Your Personal Information

Don't share sensitive information like your home address, workplace, financial details, or daily routine until you've built trust with someone over time.

Watch for Red Flags

Be cautious of users who: ask for money, refuse to video chat, have inconsistent stories, pressure you to move off the app quickly, or make you feel uncomfortable.

Video Chat First

Before meeting in person, consider having a video call. This helps verify the person looks like their photos and gives you a better sense of who they are.

Meeting In Person Safely

Meet in Public Places

Always meet in a public, well-lit location with other people around. Good options include coffee shops, restaurants, shopping centers, or busy parks during daytime.

Tell Someone Your Plans

Let a friend or family member know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share your live location if possible.

Arrange Your Own Transport

Drive yourself, use public transport, or book your own rideshare. Don't let your date pick you up from your home for the first few meetings.

Stay Sober

Keep a clear head, especially on first dates. Alcohol and drugs can impair your judgment and make you more vulnerable.

Keep Your Phone Charged

Make sure your phone is fully charged before meeting. You may need it to call for help or order a ride home.

Protecting Yourself from Scams

⚠️ Never send money to someone you haven't met in person

Romance scammers often build emotional connections before asking for money. Be cautious of:

  • Requests for money for emergencies, travel, or medical bills
  • Cryptocurrency or investment "opportunities"
  • Requests to receive or transfer money on someone's behalf
  • People who claim to be wealthy but need financial help
  • Anyone who asks for your bank or credit card details

If someone asks you for money, report them immediately. Legitimate matches will not ask for financial assistance.

Reporting & Blocking Users

If someone makes you feel uncomfortable or behaves inappropriately:

How to Block a User

Go to the user's profile → Tap the menu icon (⋮) → Select "Block User". They will not be able to see your profile or contact you.

How to Report a User

  • Use fake photos or impersonate someone else
